Flag of the energy insurrection
$20.99
This flag, a community symbol of the energy insurrection, was designed in Adjuntas and first raised in front of Casa Pueblo in 2022, on the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Maria's passage over Puerto Rico.
The blue triangle represents water and sky, while green symbolizes forests and land, the origin of food and home to biodiversity. The sun, meanwhile, signifies energy sovereignty.
The flag was designed at Casa Pueblo with contributions from Javier Hernández and artist Verónica Aponte, and first embroidered by Rebecca Rodríguez. Since it was unfurled, it has traveled through different cities in Puerto Rico and the world, including an exchange with Mexican president Claudia Sheinbaum.
